Dominique Winters is a Ph.D. student in Cultural Studies and a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Communications at George Mason University. She is originally from New York City where she earned a BA in Anthropology and a MPA concentrating in Urban Affairs from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York.
Dominique has taught courses in Africana Studies including, History of African Americans (1865 - Present), The Contemporary Urban Community, and The African American Great Migration for the City University of New York. She has taught Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) courses for non-native English speakers and High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation classes for Adult Learners. Her passions include traveling to West Africa and the Caribbean to explore the cultural legacies and connections within the African Diaspora.
