The Department of Communication participates in a rich variety of co-curricular activities! For example, students gain valuable experience (and can sometimes earn academic credit) by getting involved in journalism through the campus newspaper, Fourth Estate, or by joining our student chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists. We also have a campus internet radio station (WGMU) with a full professional studio. The Public Relations Student Society of American (PRSSA) holds regular mentoring events and job fairs. Communication Ambassadors help to connect us with prospective students. The department is also home to two championship-caliber intercollegiate competitive Speech teams: Forensics and Debate.
Organizations You Can Join
You don't have to be a Communication major or minor to join most of these organizations! This allows you, as a COMM major/minor, to interact with some of the best and brightest from all over Mason!
