Student Spotlight

As a PhD student who aspires to work in industry, finding myself in spaces where this multi-arena crossover is encouraged and supported is critical to identifying the areas where I hope to grow professionally. 

Kathryn Dorre is a junior communication major with a minor in marketing. She interned over the summer at Leidos, an industry and technology leader serving government and commercial customers with smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations.

Madison Turner is a senior Communication major with a concentration in public relations. She interned at Hopewell City Public Schools in Hopewell, Virginia.

Cassie Northern is a senior Communication minor with a concentration in journalism and is majoring in Art and Visual Technology.  She was a Summer 2026 remote intern for The Fairfax Girl, which creates lifestyle and community content for those living in Northern Virginia.

Joao Araujo, is a senior communication major and interned at Heven AeroTech, Dulles, Virginia.

Barbara Muziotti Morantes is a senior Communication major, with a concentration in media production and criticism. She interned at GMU-TV, on the Fairfax campus.

Sarena Sohan is a Communication major with a concentration in journalism. She interned with the College of Science, which often highlights its faculty of world-class scientists and educators with exemplary qualifications and progressive experience. Sarena specifically worked as a digital media assistant intern in the Mason Science Marketing and Communications Department.

Adam Roth is a senior Communication major with a concentration in Media Production and minoring in Graphic Design. He interns at the Office of Student Media as a lead videographer and video editor.

Valeria is a senior double major in Communication with a concentration in public relations and a foreign language major with a concentration in Spanish. She interned with the Prince William County Government Community Services Board (CSB).

Nathan Ferraro is a junior Communication major with a double concentration in journalism and political communication. He is a staff writer and Jim Borden scholar at the Pittsburgh-based multimedia news company Trib Total Media for Summer 2026.
