On September 14, 2024, the Department of Communication at George Mason University proudly hosted a 40th anniversary celebration, which brought together alumni, faculty, and staff, to commemorate four decades of academic excellence and innovation.

The 2024 Communication Career Forum, hosted by the Department of Communication & GMU Insight Committee was held on October 29, 2024 in the Johnson Center at George Mason University. The forum serves to help all current students and alumni gain career advice and network with some of the nation's leading communication professionals.

Developing and presenting communication research has been such a highlight of my undergraduate academic career and I am so appreciative of the Communication Department here at George Mason University in its support and creation of avenues to allow scholarly work to be done inside the classroom. 

On ABC 7's Good Morning Washington, Brian van de Graaff, BA Speech Communication '97, shares highlights from the 2024 CHSS Community and Catalysts event, saying he was honored to be part of this group of impressive awardees.

"George Mason University alumna Jay Ell Alexander, BA Communication ’08, joined Black Girls RUN!, a national running organization, as a PR intern in 2012. In 2018, she bought the company and has been the owner for the last six years."

Dr. Kim Meltzer was invited to be an Honorary Assistant Coach for the George Mason University Women's Basketball Program at their game on Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was invited by team member and COMM major Louis Volker who is in Dr. Meltzer's COMM 203 Introduction to Journalism course this semester.

And for many Americans, these wildfires might just be the latest thing convincing them that climate change is having real, and disastrous, consequences. According to regular polling from the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication, the share of American adults who believe people in the U.S. are being harmed by climate change "right now" has risen gradually over the last 15 years.
