Madeleine Holland

Associate Professor

Dr. Holland is a Associate Professor and the incoming director of the COMM 101 - Fundamentals of Communication program, assuming her role formally in Spring 2027. Her background is in creating and delivering large, interdisciplinary, introductory level communication skills training classes in hybrid formats. Her background in universal design for learning and a strong commitment to accessibility inform the structure of her classes and serves as a research associate with the National Center on Disabled College Student Success. She has specific expertise in equipping STEM students and technical professionals with immediately applicable strategies to translate their knowledge to lay audiences.

As a researcher, she contributes to the scholarship of teaching and learning, as well as investigating the experience of stigmatized populations, with a particular focus on gender identity.

Dr. Holland also acts as the Associate Director of the Alliance of Schools and Colleges of Communication and Journalism, an education non-profit connecting large institutions of higher education as they seek to navigate current and pressing challenges.
