Outstanding Doctoral Student Communication
2026 Awardee
Narges Ghafary
Narges has demonstrated exceptional dedication as a doctoral student and a strong eagerness to learn. She has collaborated not only with me but also with other faculty members across the department and the School of Public Health. Her scholarly productivity is evident in co-authored publications in leading journals and numerous conferences presentations such as NCA, ECA, DCHC and KCHC, including winning a top paper award at 2025 ECA, top poster award at DCHC and third place for GMU poster competition. Her proposed research advances the understanding of mental health experiences and support among refugee and immigrant women. This is an understudied area and context, and her work promises meaningful scholarly impact. In addition to her academic achievements, Narges has fostered inclusive collaboration among peers and contributed meaningfully to the broader academic community in the department and more broadly in the discipline. It has been a true joy to work with her.
Narges's accomplishments include winning a Top Paper Award at the 2025 ECA, a Top Poster Award at DCHC, third place in the GMU poster competition, and Top Graduate Poster Award at ECA 2026.
