Madison Turner is a senior Communication major with a concentration in public relations. She interned at Hopewell City Public Schools in Hopewell, Virginia. Madison’s supervisor is the Communications and Public Relations Specialist. The internship provides Madison with valuable hands-on experience in public relations within an educational environment Some of her tasks included:
· developing marketing strategies for school programs and district initiatives,
· creating social media content for school events and announcements,
· capturing and editing photographs for use in promotional materials and online platforms,
· assisting in promoting school events through digital communication channels, and
· supporting general communication efforts across departments as needed.
She was able to apply classroom knowledge to real-world communication tasks while building professional skills in content creation, strategic messaging, and audience engagement. Overall, this opportunity helped strengthen her interest in pursuing a career in public relations and strategic communications after graduation.
