Overview of Undergraduate Programs

Welcome to the Communication Department at George Mason University! Our purpose is to provide the tools and guidance to assist our current and future students in achieving their academic and professional goals.

The communication major is everything I did not know I needed, and I embraced it wholeheartedly by choosing to complete two concentrations. I know the knowledge I have been gaining for the past three years can be applied to any career I choose and that is one of the biggest benefits of the major!

Undergraduate Programs in Communication

BA in Communication

A bachelor’s degree in communication equals endless opportunities.  There is something unique and exciting that distinguishes us from other majors.  The communication degree at Mason allows students to explore and learn about what the field of communication has to offer and combines a rich study of how humans understand one another and work together, while providing immediately translatable skills and knowledge valued across industries.

It combines a rich study of how humans understand one another and work together, while providing immediately translatable skills and knowledge valued across industries. You will learn to create and manage public and media relations plans, craft social media campaigns, produce videos, write for news and entertainment media, produce television and radio programs, and more.

Minors in Communication

Students are encouraged to supplement their major with a minor housed within #MasonCOMM.  Communication majors can expand, enhance, and strengthen their concentration (above) with a specialty topic found within a minor.  Students in other majors can expand, enhance, and strengthen their studies to include fundamental skills all employers seek.
