Jane plans to apply her degree and passion for conservation, along with her interest in communicating why protecting the natural environment is important and how it affects people’s lives, toward a job at a conservation nonprofit.
Scott came in as a Communication graduate student with a background in education who plans to participate in the PhD program at George Mason to become a college professor.
Ieva came to Mason COMM by way of the Air Force training program. She consistently came into the classroom ready and prepared to grow and learn, even adapting her program to dig deeper into race, gender and violence, and facilitation to help her upon returning to her service as a public affairs officer after graduation.
Jessica Hubbard (MA, 2018) built her academic experience in the Communication MA program at George Mason University around a passion for translating complex science into accessible, engaging communication. Her master’s thesis, “Creating Guidelines for Effective Weather Communication: A Qualitative Analysis of Message Strategies Through the Lens of Meteorologists,” reflects her early commitment to improving how scientific information is shared with public audiences.
Today, Jessica is a Social Media Strategist at Science, where she leads efforts to connect global audiences with scientific research. Supporting the Science family of journals’ social media presence—reaching over 16 million followers across 14 platforms—she focuses on developing strategic approaches to engage scientists and science audiences wherever they are online.

Recipient of the Dean's Challenge Fellowship and graduate of the M.A. program, Amy Busch has worked to combat smoking by investigating the effects of the FDA graphic warning labels on cigarette packages.
Identifying current social marketing trends and future achievers
After graduating with his M.A while working as assistant coach for the forensics team, Stan Polit has worked as a presenter of non-profit management research at Social Marketing at Public Health Conferences.
