Nicole Livas

Nicole Livas earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Mason in 1990. Until her recent relocation back to Washington, DC, she was co-anchor of WAVY news and Fox43 news, which both serve Hampton Roads, Virginia. Ms. Livas covered several major stories during her career including the Virginia Tech campus shootings, World Trade Center terror attacks, and John F. Kennedy, Jr.’s plane crash in ‘99. Ms. Livas' happier assignments included the Hollywood finale of American Idol, and she produced several stories during the filming of the TV show "Providence" from ’99 to 2002.

She serves on the advisory board of the college of humanities and social sciences at Mason and is a board member for Virginia chapter of the society of professional journalists.

She has volunteered with the Norfolk, Virginia NATO festival, teens with a purpose, mentors for tomorrow, big brothers big sisters, the American heart association, special olympics, the boys choir of Hampton roads, and many more. Ms. Livas took a Faith Medical Mission trip to Haiti in 2012, and the Y.W.C.A. of south Hampton Roads chose her as one of its 2012 women of distinction.

Livas was front-and-center establishing a “bridge-the-gap” program, a multicultural symposium of students and faculty that built a broader and more tolerant understanding of one another, embracing the riches of diversity
