Explores the intersection between journalism and the legal system in the United States. Students will gain a understanding of the U.S. Constitution, the court system, and key legal principles that influence how journalists operate. Focus on topics including First Amendment rights, privacy, shield laws, and defamation through the lens of landmark court cases. This course is designed for non-lawyers who want to understand the legal landscape shaping the practice of journalism. Offered by Communication. Limited to three attempts.
