"George Mason University has played an important role in my career from the very beginning, which makes returning to Mason as a faculty member especially meaningful.
I graduated from Mason in 2011 with a degree in Communication, and it was during my time here that I first began to see journalism as a career. I took courses including Broadcast Writing, Writing Across the Media, and News Writing and Reporting, while also gaining hands-on experience with Mason Cable Network. Those classes helped build the foundation for the work I do today.
Since graduating, I’ve worked at local news stations across Virginia and have spent nearly the last decade anchoring and reporting in Washington, D.C., covering everything from major national events to the local stories that directly impact our communities.
Today, I teach COMM 353: Broadcast Journalism at Mason. It feels incredibly full circle to return to the university where my own career began and now teach the same course that first inspired me to pursue journalism. One of the most rewarding parts of being back is having the opportunity to share what I’ve learned in the field with the next generation of journalists and help students begin to find their own voices as storytellers."
