COMM 305, Intercultural Communication, Now Global Contexts and Just Societies Course

MasonCOMM is pleased to announce that COMM 305 has been accepted into the Global Contexts Mason Core category and will also count as a Just Societies course.  With the Global Context and Just Societies designations, COMM 305 refreshed itself to continue the exploration of traditional boundaries, and to also reflect the University’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and social justice as fundamental aspects of coursework.

From investigating cross-cultural communication patterns to exploring the impact of globalization on interpersonal dynamics, students will access invaluable insights into cultural diversity on a global scale. Understanding cultural nuances not only fosters mutual respect but also enhances personal and professional relationships in an increasingly globalized society.

By examining communication through the lens of equity, students engage in critical discussions on power dynamics, privilege, and social justice within intercultural contexts. Through introspection and dialogue, students will continue in their journey to develop the awareness and skills necessary to advocate for fairness and inclusivity in society.

Beyond theoretical frameworks, COMM 305 offers practical applications that prepare students for real-world intercultural interactions. Through case studies, role-playing exercises, and cross-cultural simulations, students sharpen their communication strategies, empathy, and cultural competence.

Beginning this fall, COMM 305 will equip students with the tools to bridge cultural divides, foster understanding, and promote social justice.  Enroll today and embark on a transformative journey towards becoming a culturally competent global citizen.
