#MasonCOMM Summer Intern of the Week

Cara Kiser is a senior majoring in communication with a concentration in public relations. She interns at the nonprofit organization, Fellowship Square Foundation. This nonprofit focuses on providing affordable housing for low-income elderly in the DMV area. In 2020, Fellowship Square Foundation celebrated its 60th year anniversary. Within those 60 years it has been able to provide housing for over 3,000 seniors, and invested over one million dollars for the needs and well-being of its residents. The projects assigned to Cara will allow her to learn the daily tasks of a communication assistant from the lens of a non-profit organization. Some of her specific tasks include:

● Updating media lists,

● Social media content creation,

● Creating and suggesting website improvements,

● Researching current events that may relate to the organization or residents and,

● Making improvements/edits to newsletters.

Each day Cara is able to develop both her communication and professional skills working alongside the welcoming staff at Fellowship Square Foundation. She will be able to further develop these skills during the remainder of her college career and in future employment opportunities.
