Jaala Brown is a senior communication major with a double concentration in public relations and journalism. She interns at NBC Nightly News for the Washington D.C. bureau. Her direct supervisor is Morgan Parmet, Director of Editing and Operations. The news program has won many Emmy awards over the years. NBC is considered one of the most popular daily news outlets. Some of Jaala’s tasks include:
- use editorial knowledge to compile research for editorial preparation,
- write for research projects,
- select and compile footage for on-air viewing,
- build and manage graphics,
- maintain records of interviews and show coverage, and
- assist in broadcast coverage of Nightly News or Nightly News Kids segments.
Jaala has expanded her knowledge of broadcast journalism and learned from top talent at NBC. She has gained experience in production and on-air shows, and finds this amazing opportunity so exciting as her last undergraduate internship.
