They are recognized as an accredited Museum by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) meaning they are part of a very select few of museums deemed to uphold the highest professional museum standards.  Gwenn Adams, the public affairs chief for NMM is Kaylyn’s immediate supervisor.

Some of her tasks include:

  • Creating daily educational and historical content for social media platforms (IG, FB, Twitter).
  • Assisting with monthly newsletters and updates to the NMMC’s website.
  • Writing press releases for special events occurring at the Museum, and
  • Assisting with escorting media who visit the Museum.

Kaylyn is so fortunate to have the opportunity to practice and strengthen learned communication and journalism skills from her Mason courses while interning at NMMC.  She gets to experience the professional role that these skills play in the public affairs and social media field each day. This beneficial learning opportunity will assist her in finding full time employment after graduation.
