Advancing Journalism at George Mason University

At a time when traditional journalism has come and gone, George Mason University students have an opportunity to create the future of content and storytelling. At Mason we are advancing our Journalism advising in innovative ways to include branding, digital content, digital marketing, start-up growth, content and DEIA business and reporting incubators. Beth Jannery, rejoined the Department of Communication this year and is reinvigorating what it means to study journalism at Mason.

What follows is a snapshot of Communication Cases highlighting the work the Journalism program is engaged in: 2022 -2024. We believe in advancing student development and faculty professional development inside and outside of the classroom. We are looking at ways to bridge the classroom and the workplace with innovative ideas.

This week we highlight 

Journalism Adjunct Faculty The team is led by Beth Jannery, a former Chief Marketing & Communication Officer and a consulting business owner. Her advising firm is Titan. She advocates for the future of storytelling as reflected in her recent thought leadership article in Forbes titled: The Lost Art of Storytelling. She is teaching this concept to journalism students and discussing the future of content, digital marketing and branding – all skills Mason students gain in our classroom. The team of adjunct faculty includes experienced journalists and content creators from National Geographic Explorer, AARP’s VP, Editor-in-Chief, and The Washington Post.
