Debate Team Wins Three Tournaments in a Row Making Them #1 in the Nation!

The Debate Team is well into another successful season, winning three tournaments in a row!  Varsity debaters, Kyle Lastovica & Young Kwon won the varsity division of the James Madison Tournament from October 11-13, besting teams from the University of Mary Washington, Georgetown University, Vanderbilt University, James Madison University, and the Naval Academy.  Kyle was also top speaker.  The team’s next tournament was at the West Point Military Academy from Oct. 18-20. Novice debaters, Rich Kaye and Nouran Ghanem won their division after defeating debaters from Cornell University, Liberty University, James Madison University and other universities.  Rich also won the top speaker award.  Next the team won the Clarion University Tournament that took place from November 1-3; this time novice debaters Nouran Ghanem & Austin Oliver represented the team, defeating teams from places like Boston College, John Carroll University, Liberty University, James Madison and Rutgers University.  It is tournament results like these have given GMU Debate the top spot in the nation again this year.  Recent results from the National Debate Tournament circuit rankings have named George Mason University as the top team in the country!
