Director of Debate Dr. Jackie Poapst was honored with the Dr. Neil Berch Coach Award, the Junior Varsity and Novice Coach of the Year award. It is "awarded to a coach of a debate program who represents the fundamental ideals shared by the Northeast Region as epitomized by Dr. Neil Berch's commitment to service in the larger community, fairness, and overall sportsmanship while still promoting excellence in debate." The Berch Award is awarded to one coach every year at the Junior Varsity-Novice National Championship tournament.
