COMM Graduate Awards Celebration

COMM Graduate Awards Celebration

This May we honored the graduate students in Communication who were graduating and recognized several students who won this year's graduate awards. We have students doing amazing research in the intersection of communication and areas including; climate, education, racial disparities, national security, healthcare, and more.  You can learn more about the awards and the winners here: https://communication.gmu.edu/awards/422.  We were grateful to have two of our amazing alumni join us to instill their wisdom with our current students. Dr. Kristin Timm, Chief Science Communication Strategist at the International Arctic Research Center and a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, spoke about how students can adapt and still pursue their passion for their work despite facing an uphill challenge.  MA alumni Aliesha Pulliam, Speaker, Emcee and Actress, imparted her wisdom and experience about always learning and building and gaining positives to help you find your passions and pursue them with everything you have.   Our students honored our faculty, Dr. Nicotera, Dr. Rudd, and Dr. Clarke for their mentorship with teaching, research, and advising. We thank our faculty, students, and alumni for making this event so special. We are proud to have such amazing students doing critical research to help make positive impacts. Congratulations to the 2024-2025 graduates and award winners!
