Best Selling Author Jason Reynolds visits Journalism Class

Jason Reynolds, American Author and #1 New York Times Best Seller, was invited by Journalism Concentration Director, Professor Brenna Maloney, to be a guest speaker at her COMM 369: Multimedia Storytelling class on April 1.

Reynolds writes novels and poetry for young adult and middle grade readers. His many books include: Look Both Ways: A Tale Told in Ten Blocks, Long Way Down, Miles Morales Suspended, Fantasma [Ghost], Stamped (For Kids), Sunny, Stuntboy, in the Meantime, Patina, Ain't Burned All the Bright.

Of his many awards, he has earned the John Newbery Medal, Caldecott Medal, Carnegie Medal for Writing, and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work-Youth/Teens.

Many Communication students along with students from various other classes like English attended the lecture, held in the HUB. "Mason students were so fortunate to be able to engage with award-winning author Jason Reynolds. His unique style of storytelling shows what an incredibly gifted writer he is," said Professor Maloney. "I think students knew they were in the presence of greatness today."
