Dr. Kim Meltzer was invited to be an Honorary Assistant Coach for the George Mason University Women's Basketball Program at their game on Saturday, November 9, 2024. She was invited by team member and COMM major Louis Volker who is in Dr. Meltzer's COMM 203 Introduction to Journalism course this semester. Dr. Meltzer was given a behind-the-scenes experience with the team and coaches in the victorious home game against Towson U.
The team brought Dr. Meltzer into the locker room and on the sidelines at Eagle Bank Arena to experience the game from their vantage point. As a result of being an "Honorary Coach," Dr. Meltzer had access to the team locker room during their pregame "Chalk Talk", sat with the team on the team bench during the game, joined the coaching staff's half-time deliberation, and was their special guest during their post-game social.
