Dr. Wendy Riemann, Mason Communication PhD alum 2022, has had her research published in the Journal of Qualitative Research in Medicine and Healthcare. Her scholarly journal article is about social support and broken marriage engagements.
Dr. Riemann said, “Finally! I don't have to tell you that getting here has been a long road. That journey was made easier by your support -- and would have been impossible without Melissa, Gary, and Kevin. Thank you for that. My goal is that this article starts to change the narrative a little bit about better responding to breakup news. I am hoping that it reminds people to be more present and in-tune with the needs of their loved ones -- even in the awkward, dark, and hard times -- especially those times. And to be more thoughtful with our words in responding to those around us who are experiencing the challenges that life inevitably throws at us. Helpful words help others heal”.
