George Mason's Department of Communication is Offering an opportunity for students to apply for a Fall Reporting Workshop led by The Chronicle of Higher Education

Calling all student journalists: FREE Overnight travel, meals, views of D.C., and journalism training. Need plans for the weekend? Want to meet friends with similar interests? Join The Chronicle of Higher Education Fall Reporting Workshop. Perfect for all Communication/Journalism students or those interested in exploring what it means to be a reporter covering college and university news.

Anyone who spends time on a college campus will tell you there’s no other place quite like it. Academe has its own language, its own conventions. A newcomer is likely to have some questions.

To cover this world as a student journalist, you could use some help.

That’s where The Chronicle comes in. The Chronicle has been covering America’s colleges for more than 50 years. In 2016 The Chronicle launched a program to share this expertise with student journalists.

The next Chronicle Reporting Workshops is October 20-21.  Applications from student journalists are welcome to participate in two days of programming. Learn from award-winning journalists and share insights with some of the brightest minds in collegiate journalism.

If selected, you will be reimbursed for travel - car, train, bus, or other ground transportation expenses, one night of lodging in D.C., and meals while attending.  More information about Covid-mitigation protocols will be shared with accepted participants.

The deadline to apply is Friday, August 12, at noon. Applicants can expect to receive more information on the status of their application by Friday, September 2.

Apply here to join some of the country's most talented student journalists for The Chronicle's Fall Reporting Workshop, to be held October 20-21 (a Thursday and a Friday) in Washington, DC.
