#MasonCOMM hosts Awards Ceremony for COMM Graduate Students
#MasonCOMM Grad Students at the Spring 2022 GMU Commencement Ceremony

The Department of Communication was honored to celebrate of graduate award winners and graduating Certificate, MA, and PhD students over the past few weeks. We are so proud of your successes and wish you all the best in your future endeavors. To watch the video of our celebration visit our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/OEyWBYM3njU

In the video you will see a few of our amazing graduate students being honored, including Eryn Campbell who won the award given in honor of one of our amazing alumni,  Joe Witte. Joe had this to say about Eryn:

"I wish to offer my congratulations and gratitude to Eryn Campbell for her important communication research that is revealing insights into Americans' beliefs about--and actions toward--the threat of climate change. Through her work we have a better understanding of how to support important actions on the part of TV weathercasters and other local journalists, health professionals, and the rapidly growing segment of the public who are “Alarmed” about climate change.

I understand that Eryn has proven to be a tireless and enthusiastic science communication leader beyond her role as researcher, including as a teacher, a program director for the National Park Service climate communication internship program, and as a climate advocate at Mason. I learned from a reliable source that her direct advocacy with interim Mason President Ann Holton set in motion a series of actions that led to Mason’s recently announced goal to achieve climate neutrality by the year 2030.

I am honored to have my name associated with such an outstanding George Mason University doctoral student. And, Eryn, I wish you continued success in the subject dear to my heart: climate change communication."
