2017 #MasonCOMM Alum, Jason Brightman, Works for Organization that Saved His Life

I am a 2017 graduate of GMU with a B.A. Communication and concentration in Journalism. During my time at Mason, I was a play-by-play announcer for the women’s basketball and men’s baseball teams. I also enjoyed my roles as a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, Director of Sports Programming for WGMU, and a member of the Student Media Advertising/Marketing Team.

After graduating from Mason, I moved to Denver, CO and began working with 104.3 The Fan/ESPN 1600 as a producer and board operator. I attended Broncos training camp, produced shows like “The Drive with Schlereth and Evans”, and worked with former NFL players.  Recently, my wife and I bought a new house and have been busy moving in and making changes.

I now enjoy working in my current position as an Integrated Kidney Care Assistant with DaVita IKC. Everyday, I work with patients with chronic kidney disease to keep them out of the hospital, transition smoothly to dialysis or transplant, and overall save costs across their spectrum of care. It is an honor to work for a company that I was once a patient of myself!

In all of these experiences, one thing that has remained constant. The foundation that the Communication program and faculty at George Mason University provided me has left me with the strength, tools, and knowledge to succeed in life and reach my goals. I owe a debt of gratitude to this institution, and I couldn’t be more proud to be a Patriot!
