Alyssa Mertins is a senior communication major with a concentration in public relations. She currently interns at WashingtonExec, a Fairfax based private membership organization that hosts networking and roundtable events for senior-level government officials and industry leaders. The company publishes daily and weekly coverage for the local executive business community. Alyssa’s responsibilities allow for a broad range of experience in the industry. Some of her tasks include:
- creating video content for social media,
- organizing email communication,
- assisting in producing podcast episodes,
- helping organize event logistics, and
- working the events.
The internship is an ideal opportunity to apply many skills learned in the communication program, and fosters a valuable public relations skill set. This will allow Alyssa to succeed when entering the job market after graduation.
