Meet the COMM Intern of the Week for 2/8/19: Josi Braithwaite

Communication Intern of the Week

Meet Josi Braithwaite:  Comm Dept Intern of the Week - February 8, 2019

Josi Braithwaite is a senior communication major with a concentration in public relations.  She is a Spring 2019 intern at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Development Department.   The Kennedy Center is a space for artists to freely express themselves while also providing many art education programs.  The Center is a non-profit that serves as a living memorial to former President John F. Kennedy, who was a leader of the fine arts.

Josi works on various projects that contribute to funding applications, researching prospective donors and assembling documents to send to donors.  She attends a weekly class with fellow interns to learn about non-profits, arts management and professional development.

Some of Josi’s projects include:

  • Researching possible corporate sponsors for a 2020 NSO tour to Asia
  • Preparing a program packet for prospective supporters of the 2019 Unexpected Italy Festival
  • Making photo books for important donors or board members
  • Working as a team member to catalogue data

Josi enjoys the internship immensely, as she pursues her goals to better her writing skills, learn how to work with teams and increase her professional experience. She is very grateful to have this opportunity to gain experience in her field of interest and to learn every internship work day!
