What work are you doing now?

I am currently a senior consultant specializing in product management and business analysis at a top 10 consulting firm with a mix of commercial and federal clients. I work cross functionally with technology and business stakeholders to enhance, understand and build products while analyzing data. Documentation creation, requirements gathering, and presentations to senior-level executives are all significant parts of my day. The biggest challenge is breaking down the communication barrier and helping the greater business connect internally to align with stakeholder and client expectations.

What do you like about it?

The work I do is always evolving. The dynamic team structure I live in provides an ongoing educational experience. No two days are ever the same and I live in a fast-paced, goal driven environment that requires high levels of time and task management.

How did your degree in the college prepare you to do this work?

Mason was able to prepare me professionally with each course that I took. I was able to work with small groups that required project planning, professional speaking, and concept development. Being able to transition into the business professional environment was a seamless effort, all thanks to my professors.

What advice would you give current students about developing their careers?

Don't sell yourself short. Take chances and be open for anything. Use your resources, make connections and don't be afraid to network. The next opportunity for development comes when you least expect it and sometimes when you are not even looking.
