Melissa Bruce serves as a faculty member with GMU Korea’s English Department. Prior to joining GMUK, Melissa taught with the Communication Department and the Women & Gender Studies Department at the Fairfax campus. Additionally, she has taught English Composition with both Shenandoah University and Northern Virginia Community College.

Originally from Western New York, Melissa holds a B.A. in English Literature and an M.A. in English & Communication, both from the State University of New York at Potsdam. While at SUNY Potsdam, Melissa served as assistant director for the College Writing Center.

Currently, Melissa’s research interests lie primarily in Visual & Popular Culture and Gender & Sexuality Studies with a focus in Television and Fandom.
