Examines law as it relates to working journalist. Topics include libel, invasion of privacy, free press and fair trial, First Amendment, broadcast regulation, access to media, advertising, and effect of new technologies on these issues. Uses case approach to study leading court decisions in mass media law. May not be repeated for credit.
Recommended Prerequisite: 60 credits or permission of instructor.
