COMM 351 is real-world experience for future journalists and public relations professionals.
 
Learn the process of actual news gathering. Students write and report for print and online media outlets. In-class and out-of-class writing assignments train students in unique styles of print and online journalism. 
 
Successful public relations professionals need first-hand knowledge of deadlines, demands and requirements of a news reporter for their career success, too. Students who have completed 303 may take 351.

Students gain practical experience in real news gathering by reporting and writing hard news and feature stories. The course content advances what students learned in COMM 303/309. Topics include interviewing, fact-checking, sourcing, developing news judgement and applying reporting ethics for the purpose of crafting accurate, ethical and impactful journalism. Limited to three attempts.

Required Prerequisites: COMM 303C, L303, 303XS, 309C, L309 or 309XS.
C Requires minimum grade of C.
XS Requires minimum grade of XS.
