In this course, you will learn principles underlying effective communication in intercultural contexts. You will learn how to make critical judgments as an intercultural communicator. What you learn in this course will benefit you by helping you become a more confident and effective intercultural communicator. You will learn by reflecting on the concepts in our textbook, viewing videos that support course theory and with class discussions and other interactions in and outside of the classroom.

Analyzes communication variables as they relate to intercultural encounters. Emphasizes culture's influence on communication process, particularly influence of verbal and nonverbal communication on how message is interpreted. Notes: Communication majors are encouraged to complete COMM 200 prior to enrolling in this course. Limited to three attempts.
Mason Core: Global Understanding
Recommended Prerequisite: 3 credits of 100 or 200-level COMM courses or 60 credits.
