Section Information for Spring 2018
This course is an introduction to contemporary issues in bioethics. For most topics, we will consider moral arguments for and against various practices, and students will be encouraged to draw their own conclusions regarding the moral permissibility of these practices. In addition, we will study utilitarianism and Kantian ethics—two highly influential moral theories—with the aim of understanding how they can give us guidance when it comes to framing a moral issue, and how to think about the different issues in bioethics, in particular.
No previous experience in philosophy or life-science is required.
