Joshua Colliluori

8/25 Intern of the Week

Joshua Colliluori is a senior communication major with a concentration in media production and criticism.  During fall 2017, he is engaging in an internship with the IMPACT Collective, located at the Winery at Bull Run (TWABR). This dynamic company specializes in marketing, public relations, logistics, and creative event planning.  IMPACT Collective is the recipient of 7 DC Capital Awards (2012-2015), and WeddingWire Couple's Choice Awards (2011-2017).  Josh works directly for the Director of Operations, Mrs. Paige Sharyhary, the program manager for the Meant 2 Live Foundation and event sales associate at TWABR.  Some of his responsibilities are:

  • social media engagement and strategy
  • client support (on-site, and online)
  • utilizing business applications to stream line work-flow
  • scheduling and following-up with potential clients

Josh is excited to learn skills that are highly valued for his career.  He looks forward to acquiring more knowledge about the intricacies and joys of the event planning industry under the accomplished and capable tutelage of the IMPACT Collective public relations and marketing management team.

>Ratcliff Thomas Foundation

-Position: Grant Writer & Fundraising Strategist(pending post approval onTaprootplus.org and Volunteermatch.org)

-(4 P/T positions -Unpaid for Credit -  Can be done remotely)

-The Ratcliff Thomas Foundation (RTF) seeking a Grant Writer & Fundraising Strategist to research, write proposals and develop fundraising strategies (including crowdsourcing and Combined Federal Campaigns) to help create more viable programs with solutions that will asist in youth development, their families and the communities in which they reside in Northern Virginia. We have completed our submission and have received grants from local organizations (SunTrust Mortgage, The Rotary Club, AT&T, Shoppers Food Warehouse, Simpson Real Estate Services, Nspire Networ, The United Way) to fund uniform shirts, the Alexandria City Football Camp, Wizards Basketball game outing, Free Back-to-School Haircuts and becoming a member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Our work encourages youth to engage in team building, communication and conflict resolution activities. Additionally, we would like to be in a position where we can award college scholarships in the future and transportation to safely get our participants to games and excursions as a group. We are positive in the success of our program due to participation response, feedback from parents and various public school systems. This effort will aid in launching future crowdfunding campaigns. This proposal is a high priority for our foundation to peak interest in our cause so that we will utilize these networks to start our fundraising efforts prior to end of this tax year. 

-The Ratcliff Thomas Foundation (RTF) is an all volunteer organization who are soliciting pro-bono hours from people that deeply believes that "Youth Lives Matter." Your contribution will prepare our chidren to become leaders of tomorrow with guidance byway of our "Mentoring Through Sports" initiative, life skills workshops and educational excursions. With your asistance, we will be able to accomplish our overall mission. As you know, your time is an asset to our organization and your professional portfolio. We have completed and submitted our application to OPM to participate in the Combined Federal Campaigns. In order to render more services to the youth and the community, we are developing a new website to bring awareness with a fresh professional look for our brand to establish visible online presence. In the course of existence since 2015, we have aquired devoted volunteers and supporters who will assist in seeing our mission through. Complementary to this, RTF has established social media presence to create awareness and donorship following on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. We ask the volunteer to research and write fundraising campaigns that will engage our target audience to become involved and share their experience to help change someone else's life.

-Organization's mission: RTF will leverage the priorities, enthusiasm, and leadership of the youth, with mentorship and supervision as required. In short, we will tap into the creativity of the youth and the leaders of the community to solve problems. RTF Elite Sports/Mentoring Program will lead the way with Community Outreach and other programs to closely follow. Coaches, volunteers and parents will serve as mentors in a structured family environment, teaching and skill development are key, as the courts and fields of play will serve as our classroom. However, this effort will take more patience and learning than just letting adults define and solve the problems. Volunteers (current & former professional and college athletes, business professionals and community leaders) participating in the organization must commit to providing guidance and sharing their life experiences. We must get back to the mind-set of “It takes a village to raise a child”.

-Position: Business Administrative Coordinator of Athletics (3 P/T positions -Unpaid for Credit)

-The Business Administrative Coordinator of Athletics reports to the CEO and Coordination Director & Public Affairs Liaison providing the office management and significant operational support for the overall organization. The Administrative Marketing Coordinator of Athletics will gain administrative experience while learning the intricacies of the operations within a youth sports nonprofit. This internship prepares someone interested in athletics administration by providing individuals hands-on experience. The Administrative Marketing Coordinator of Athletics expected to enthusiastically support the mission of the foundation and that of its participants, and is the first impression when visitors attend games, events and activities. Further, this person is expected to contribute to the overall atmosphere of RTF by establishing and maintaining positive, team-oriented working relationships with all members of the foundation, partners, and the community. This position is responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures.

-Our physical location is Alexandria, Virginia, but we work out of home offices so this will be a work-from-home opportunity, with meetings in person (or via Skype) every other week to go over work and to set new assignments.

-The Ratcliff Thomas Foundation is a member of the AAU and is committed to a well-balanced program promoting excellence in academics, athletics, and life.

-DUTIES: General office responsibilities include, but not limited to: open, sort, and distribute incoming mail and process outgoing mail; answer and direct incoming calls and take messages; maintain department files; provide general correspondence/documents including letters, memos, reports, and form letters if needed; schedule appointments and maintain department calendars; reserve rental cars; order business cards for coaches, letterhead, envelopes and notecards. Assist in the coordination of special events (Hall of Fame, Outings, Team Banquets, Fundraisers, Galas etc..) when necessary. Manage all sports’ rosters within a database for organizational use of athletics roster information regularly. Managing Conference and Tournament databases – entering and updating sports rosters; coordinating schedule submission; submitting time-sensitive reports to the conferences/associations after correspondence with key members of the organization (CEO, Athletics Representative, Coaches, etc.) Manage annual student-athlete varsity letters earned at the completion of each sport’s season. Coordinate season records for varsity letters earned and team awards: Academic All-Conference, All-Conference and All-American, etc. Forward award info to RTF Coordinator for data entry. Maintain inventory of awards and order as necessary. Oversees operation of equipment and supervise the volunteer workers. Order office supplies, schedule maintenance and/or delivery of equipment as needed, arrange uniform pickup and distribution, as needed. Attend and participate in weekly athletics administration staff meetings. Assist CEO with education and annual compliance reporting. Coordinate fall pre-season sports’ early return information –meal and transportation needs – with RTF Staff. Work with Personal Assistant to maintain CEO’s personal and work calendars for time management, schedule appointments as needed. Coordinate mailings to student-athletes and parents as needed. Send out invitations for home sporting events to other institutions and interested parties. Manage all reservations for the athletics vehicle, as needed. Manage annual student-athlete varsity letters earned at the completion of each sport’s season. Coordinate season records for varsity letters earned and team awards: Academic All-Conference, All-Conference and All-American, etc. Forward award info to Registrar for data entry. Maintain inventory of awards and order as necessary. Using MS Access and Excel, extract data entered and print reports.

-KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Prefer 2-3 years of office management experience. Strong knowledge of computer software and Excel software for word processing, mail merge, and spreadsheets. Familiarity with database management concepts. Must possess strong administrative skills, particularly accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-task-oriented environment. Strong verbal and written communications and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and materials. Must have successful completion of criminal record check, driving record check, and reference checks in order to work with children. Ability to work flexible hours in Alexandria, Virginia. >Mason Art Exhibitions Internships (PR)

-Mason Art Exhibitions Internships afford undergraduates, graduates, and post graduates opportunities to learn or expand museum and curatorial practices through hands-on experience including exhibitions development, collections management, public relations, grant writing, graphic design for print and online publications, events management, and general arts administration on the Fairfax, Arlington and Manassas campuses.

-Candidates must have a strong interest in visual art and possess excellent skills in networking, writing/speaking, content management, and research. Successful interns must be able to take responsibility for project assignments and to see them to completion.

-The position you will want to apply for is called the Publicity and PR Assistant. The Publicity and PR Assistant will develop PR strategies for exhibitions and public programs. They will research, write, and distribute press releases and web/social media descriptions for exhibitions, public art projects, and lecture series. They will also enhance press contact lists, develop outreach to University community, pitch stories to the media via telephone and email, and develop/produce visitor surveys.

-In addition to various exhibitions, we will be working on a major, campus-wide mural project, which will debut in April 2018.

-The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Voice of Business in Northern Virginia™, which represents nearly 700 member companies with 500,000 employees in the region, seeks an independent, responsible and detail-oriented Communications and Marketing Intern for Fall 2017 (late August/early September through early December) to support its busy communications and marketing program (approx. 20/week with flexible days/times).
