            This weekly newsletter will list all the internships and job positions the Communication main office receives from organizations, companies, recruiters, alumni, and anyone who reaches out to us looking for Mason students to fill their intern and job positions. We will send it out every Friday and also post it on the Mason Communication website.     • Interns will be offered hands-on experience and the opportunity to be a member of a rigorous and highly focused team. All interns should be able to devote at least three days a week in our North Bethesda Interns can receive course credit or a competitive hourly compensation, based on the student’s needs.
    • We give special preference to applicants who are proactive, creative, detail-oriented and who thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere.
    • Interns should have an interest in both the digital side of marketing and communications and traditional public relations. Our internship program gives interns comprehensive communications experience, exposing them to multiple sides of our evolving industry.
    • Interns will work with our account managers on traditional public relations tasks. Specific duties may include market research, drafting and distributing news releases, creating and editing media contact lists, assisting with ongoing outreach and compiling media clips. Candidates must have excellent skills in written and verbal communication.
    • Interns will be responsible for supporting our digital specialist in the implementation of a variety of marketing campaigns, including video production, photography, social media, online advertising and more. Familiarity with graphic design, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator), video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro), photography and digital advertising (Google AdWords) is strongly preferred.

    • Who we are:  Corsec Security, Inc. is seeking an eager and driven individual to fill the role of Marketing and Sales Intern. We are looking for someone interested in learning more about marketing, communications, and sales or already possesses one to two years of experience. This person will have a passion for the creative process and realizes the value of working with a small, hands-on organization.
    • What you'll do:  You will report to the Director of Marketing and support the solutions group as needed. Marketing is the first leg of the business development process, thus this position will require lead generation activities as well as lead generation support. Responsibilities will include assisting in research and analysis, data entry, reporting on pipeline performance, and creative design and development.

  • Freelance Journalist Internship

    • “ I am a local writer who is interested in bringing aboard a journalism intern for about 5-8 hours a week. I write locally for the Fairfax Times, Viva Tysons Magazine and the Washington Blade, and nationally for more than 30 other publications, including those dealing with sports, healthcare, real estate, produce and agriculture. You can see some of my work here:
    • Duties: make phone calls and do interviews, conduct research, send emails and do some writing. Have a chance to be published in at least one magazine (either Viva Tysons or BCA Insider) and gain experience in how to get work, maintain relationships with editors and just other tricks of the trade.

  • AMGA (Advancing High Performance Health)
    • Video Intern
      • At AMGA we’re paving the way for medical groups and integrated systems of care to deliver the next level of high-performance health. We are seeking a talented student with strong knowledge of film/ production to bring sight and sound together in order to tell our story. You’ll serve as a videographer/editor at AMGA as we build out our in-house video capabilities. You’ll have the opportunity to shoot footage and edit the content to create short (30 second- 1 minute) videos for use on our social media platforms and marketing emails. You’ll work closely with our social media and public relations staff to innovate new video project ideas as well as share your knowledge.
      • Responsibilities:
        • Help to determine what camera and production equipment is the best fit for AMGA
        • Review existing video footage- trim footage segments and put together short clips using Final Cut Pro. The material may include camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects.
        • Shoot video footage as needed. Work projects through post-production.
      • Requirements:
        • Strong knowledge of video equipment and editing software packages (Final Cut Pro)
        • Demonstrable video editing ability
        • Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity
        • Self-starter with professional demeanor
        • Ability to work in team environment
        • Junior/Senior preferred

  • Congressional Internship in Washington D.C.
    • The Office of Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) seeks unpaid interns for his office in Washington D.C. for Winter and Spring semester 2017.
    • “Responsibilities include answering phones, greeting visitors, sorting mail, handling requests for flags or tours, and assisting front office as well as legislative staff. Internship positions are full or part time. This position requires outstanding organizational abilities, strong communication skills, attention to detail, poise, flexibility, and an ability to prioritize in an extremely fast-paced office.
