Basic Course Coordinator; Director, Hiring & Scheduling
Lance brings nearly a decade of teaching in the field of Communication and experience as a communication professional to fulfill his role as the Basic Course Coordinator for the Department of Communication at George Mason University.
In addition to his daily responsibilities, Lance serves the University in a variety of roles including the continued development of the ACCESS Program (for academically qualified undergraduate international students who need additional English language proficiency assistance) and the Mason LIFE Program (a post-secondary program for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities). Lance also co-leads the annual Basic Course Academy, a week-long intensive program designed to provide graduate teaching assistants and instructors with the academic resources, teaching concepts and technology needed to teach the Basic Courses effectively.
Prior to joining GMU, Lance was a founding member of Spectrum Group Productions, Inc., a full-service multimedia design agency that specializes in quality production services for meeting and training communication, event management and entertainment. Lance also co-produced Tax Talk Today, an online series of programs designed to educate tax practitioners, tax professionals, tax educators, and students on Federal Tax Law and Federal Tax Law Updates.
Previous experience also includes serving as a Communication Specialist with OMNI Engineering & Technology, Inc., where he helped establish corporate branding through media relations and the launch of the OMNI website; award-winning work as an Executive Video Producer for the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board; and Producer roles for both the Urban Ministries of Durham and GMView, of George Mason University. Lance has also volunteered time and resources to upstart and local organizations including TriVision Studios, Inc., HasNa, Inc. and LaNette Parker, LLC.
Lance holds an M.A. in Communication from George Mason University, and has served as Communication faculty at both GMU and the Northern Virginia Community College.
