SPJ on the Move

SPJ on the Move
SPJ President Fernanda Rodriguez at The New York Times this summer.

The George Mason University chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has a newly-elected president. Fernanda Rodriguez was elected to lead SPJ Mason members for fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters. Our SPJ vice president is Alexa Gohl. Please congratulate both student journalists if you see them on campus. SPJ is a student-led Communication Department and Office of Student Media group.

SPJ is already underway this semester with a full list of activities so keep your eyes out for posters around campus with all the exciting dates and news events including an interviewing skills workshop, a Q&A with a FOX reporter, a media networking session, and a Newseum trip. Membership is $15 per semester and $30 for the entire year (plus you'll receive a fun t-shirt).

National SPJ dues is $37.50 and you can sign up at www.spj.org for this professional resume builder. Membership is open to all majors and minors, not only journalism. The first SPJ meeting is Tuesday, September 15th at 5 p.m. All are welcome. Please join SPJ. You can fill out the membership form at this event or feel free to contact our faculty advisor Professor Beth Jannery at bjannery@gmu.edu or stop by Robinson A, 121a. You can also reach SPJ President Rodriguez at frodri13@gmu.edu.

All SPJ meetings are held in one of the conference rooms right outside of the Office of Student Media in HUB.
