WINNER: Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award!

Let's hear a big round of applause for Student Media's own Hau Chu who was named the Region 2 winner of the SPJ Mark of Excellence Award in the sports writing category for his article, "A Second Chance At Life." Hau now goes on to compete nationally alongside fellow journalists from across the country. Stay tuned for those results...
 
Sara Moniuszko was offered an Editorial internship with USA TODAY's 2015 Summer Newsroom Internship Program. Sara is in the running for a $1500 SPJ fellowship award - fingers crossed. 

Avery Powell was offered a job as a Digital Journalist for WHSV-TV3 in Harrisonburg, Virgina.

Tyler Byrum is in the running for a $1500 SPJ fellowship. Fingers crossed. 

Alex Hinton and Andrew Hood were offered a paid internship through the Virgina Association of Broadcasters (VAB). 

We had a group of five GMU SPJ members attend the regional conference (including our president Liz Wheeler) and they returned FIRED UP! Fully funded by our Regional SPJ.
