Sharyl Attkisson, Former CBS Reporter, Meets Journalism Students and Discusses New Book

Veteran investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson spoke to journalism and communication students this week about her decades of experience as a reporter for CBS News and for other networks such as CNN. Attkisson herself has been in the news recently because she resigned from CBS News. She told the intimate setting of thirty communication students that she is working on a new book tentatively called Stonewalled, which will be released in November. The event was held by Professor Beth Jannery's "Writing Across the Media" class offered through the Department of Communication. Jannery said it was an inspiring afternoon for student journalists to get to meet an Emmy-award-winning journalist up-close and personal. "Attkisson is one of the best in the business, her ground-breaking work including Fast and Furious and Benghazi coverage makes her one of the most competitive investigative journalists out there," Jannery said. Student reaction was positive calling Attkisson both "humble" and "motivating."
